Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw was not satisfied with his team’s recent form after suffering a 2-0 defeat against West Ham United at London Stadium on Saturday.
Shaw, who joined the Manchester club in 2014, could not help but admit that the team is just not good enough as it continues to disappoint.
“It’s just not good enough really, we have to win games and that’s it,” full-back Shaw told TNT Sports.
“We keep losing games, losing points and we’re making it very hard for ourselves – especially that second half, it’s not good enough.”
Despite a good start as the first half ended goalless with the visitors dominating the better part, Erik Ten Hag’s men lost control of the match in the remaining 45 minutes and conceded late goals from Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus.
“In the first half, we controlled the game, I think we had chances again. If we score the first goal, maybe the result is different, but we don’t, so we suffered in that second half and, again, it’s not good enough.
“Our record here at home is as good as most,” he said. “Of course we can think of clubs who will do better, but for us we’ve had a brilliant year.”
“The players we’ve had, whether they’ve gone or whether it’s new ones we’ve brought in, we’ve had a fantastic year, with a trophy in the middle of it.
“It looks like if you don’t quite give everyone what they want then you get criticism for it, but I don’t think we could have won on Saturday if we had played all the players in midweek.”
It is worth mentioning that not many things have gone Man United’s way this season. They were knocked out of the UCL this season after finishing bottom of the group and their chances of winning the Premier League this season also remain thin.
Man United’s last win at the London Stadium came in September 2021 when goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Jesse Lingard cruised the Red Devils to win.
